That is all

So it’s probably not very cool to like Frank Turner, but then it’s probably not cool to like Garbage either. But I love them both.
Below is probably my favourite song at the moment. Frank Turner used to be in a punk band called Million Dead. I don’t know much about them, but you can really tell he’s from a punk background in the lyrics. They are so honest and dry but also uplifting. Many of his lyrics are about giving up teenage dreams, but not losing your ideals, something that as a 25 year old, I really respect. Another theme he touches on is the bullshit student political scene, again something that I totally experienced and got pissed off with.
I have my ideals, and political beliefs, but just don’t feel they were/are represented by a bunch of dudes with dreadlocks throwing ‘charity parties’ in some shit bar in Nottingham. Things like DEMO in Nottingham are doing well to promote cool indpendent music, but let’s face it, they aren’t changing the world. Nor are another of my favourite ‘hippy’ bands like TRYO, but they still rule and have lyrics about relevant things.
I don’t know where I’m going with this. Anyway, here’s my favourite song at the mo:
And here’s the song about politics/disillusion that I really relate to.
“Punk Rock didn’t live up to what I’d hoped that it could be”
“Idiot fucking hippies in fifty different factions”
Ok, so it’s quite sinister that my last post was about a kitten falling around, and that this one is about porn, but here is a really interesting documentary focusing on people’s first experiences with pornography. It’s quite slow to load, but worthwhile. I advise skipping the Asian/English/American guy who is about 10 mins in, as he is well annoying and his accent is really affected.
Anyways, enjoy – props to Tetteh for the link. I tried to embed it, but didn’t work, so just click here for the link.
This first is Skull Swap! Apparently run by “a female comedian trying to make it in NYC…at least until 2012″ but don’t let that put you off. It features loads of random amazing crap, from all over the net. Here’s a selection of the best stuff I found yesterday. Click here to see the blog in full!
The second is a bit more normal – silly stuff from the internet, but still some absolute amazingly killer stuff like Verticat! Check out Buzzfeed here.
I LOVE YOU VERTICAT!
Number three is “Beware there’s a crosseyed Cyclops in My Basement” which is basically just an comics upload site. Some of the stuff on there is so old school and amazing, and great for inspiration if you are a creative type. I especially like the old movie comics from the 50s and the horror stuff.
The best bit is that it’s not just random jpegs (ahem… like my blog), but in fact uploads of the entire comic! You have to grab a Comic Book Reader thing from the net, but they are easy to find and free! Stuff like this really shows why the internet is amazing, it would take someone years to find all this stuff at car boot sales and collectors sales. Here it all is in one click!
And finally, perhaps my new favourite is MONSTER BRAINS. Following my theme of monster comics and cartoons, it has some really killer stuff, including the arcade game cabinets, and old instructions manual, some of which are below. Check it out here!
